A few months have past since I repotted a few orchids in the Kiwi bark received from Orchitop. I have to say that so far so good, orchids seem to love it and roots develop nicely.

The best thing is that this bark is very clean and has a very low tannin quantity, which means the roots won’t get stained and look brown. It also seems that there are no fungi or molds developing in it either.

Root tips look good and don’t stop growing. But I can see that this bark is not very water retentive, so I soak my orchid and it seems to be ok. Maybe this is why this bark should last more than normal pine bark. This is pine bark as well but it seems it is treated differently.

You can find this type of bark at orchid stores and nurseries, you can also find it on the Orchitop site here
